I see a lot of Christians here trying to twist facts and portray atheism as abnormal, misguided, irrational. Can we just be quite clear that it is correct to disbelieve in the truth of any given proposition when there are no valid proofs to confirm it is true, therefore it is logically correct to disbelieve in the existence of God. It is belief based on faith that is illogical and unorthodox, it is the believer who has an obligation to provide the evidence, not the atheist.

Polevaulter 1000-I'm laughing at your ignorance of basic philosophy. Disbelief requires no proof.

Panacea-Of course life exists but 99% of all species have gone extinct which is hardly a good advertisement for the existence of a divine creator. Also atheism is a comparatively modern phenomena-the lessons of history- the crusades, inquisition, anti-semitism etc. show that the Christian church has been the greatest force for evil the world has ever known.

I know what you mean, but what is the point in trying to use a logical argument against a subject which is clearly illogical.
Faith & religion have nothing to do with logic, it is about human nature which is anything but logical.
(I agree though, I have noticed that some Christians especially on here seem to view athiests as weird and evil)

Atheism is none of those things. It's evil and is responsible for evil acts. It irrationally denies what should be plain as day. Both the fact that life exists and the human condition itself violate the basic precepts of existence based on a cold, mechanistic universe. Entropy says that a living system should be impossible. The incredible vastness of our universe with us as the only sentience is ridiculously unlikely....without divine intervention. Further, atheism is not the "default" by any means. Only the teeniest, tiniest fraction of people opt for atheism and only in the most recent history of man. All other people default to religion. But, hey, they must all be wrong while the atheist is right.
But the atheist is not right nor is he particularly serious about being an atheist. Atheism exists for one reason.....to lead people away from christianity so that they will commit evil. More specifically, it is a marxist creation. The goal here is that, once people are separated from christianity, they will accept anything. They have no moral compass. And that is what MUST be done for a people to accept marxism and the heinous evil it seeks to bring (genocide, slavery, totalitarian oppression.....all marxist governments have engaged in these with no exceptions).
Atheism does not disbelieve God. Atheism works against God. And working against something hardly disbelieves or disproves it.
Put another way. Why would an atheist care about what other people hold as religious belief? Why would they work so damn hard to convince others to leave their faith? What difference does it make?
None.
But an agent of evil....working for a marxist cause. Now then, this issue is very important to them. And that's what you see atheists doing. Working 24/7 to try and separate people from their faith. YA is filled to the brim with it, lol.

By saying "it is correct to disbelieve in the truth of any given proposition when there are no valid proofs to confirm it is true," you are simply saying that atheism is "right" and faith is "wrong."
While atheism is more logical, it doesn't make it "correct."
What you fail to understand is that belief is personal. For some people, logic pales in comparison to faith. By not accepting that, it makes you no better than those Christians who push their views and "portray atheism as abnormal."
There is no "right" or "correct" belief. Let it go.

The logical default position would be to have faith, the potential consequences of not having faith are considerably more serious than than the consequences of having faith. Maybe you need to study up on logic! The fallacy of your logic is trying to prove something for which no proof can exist. Faith has nothing to do with PROOF, it is simply a belief, either you do or don't, hence the LOGICAL default position!!

The common belief in God is based on an ideal that simple people can wrap their minds around. But the real ideal of God is nature, and everything in it. Why is that so hard for theists to comprehend?

Atheists believe there is no God, but they can't prove it.
That mean, they accept it as truth BY FAITH.
And a faith-based belief is a RELIGION.
So, they are a part of a religion they can't prove, and yet they think we are wrong?
HA HA HA

There is no obligation - it is by faith.
And when you have found the truth, that affects all mankind, you want to share it.
