I'm not against religion...

Given all the glaring contradictions that the bible offers, why do so many christians choose to over look these and provide all in all pretty irrevelent answers...

I have nothing against faith... but i do have plenty against blind faith.

ok someone asked for details....

The fact that god is supposed to be all knowing yet people still manage to surprise him it seems (eve etc.)

The fact if God is so forgiving why cant he find it for satan?

The fact that evolution is a more coherant theory than creation ever was...

the fact that the bible appears to have a 30,000,000 year omision of the coming and passing of the dinosaurs before mans emergance..

And as a thought... since God was the only one who existed at the time of creation... who did he dictate genesis to?

I think the biggest contradition in it all is that our image of jesus is white, yet the bible clearly states he had 'hair like a lamb' which is more common to a black or asain person.

I think its really neive for the people to say the bible has no contradiction at all.

Most of the contradictions arise from the Bible being translated. When concidering the original languages most of the appearant contradictions go away. For example concider in Acts 9:7 The people traveling with Paul heard a voice, but in Acts 22:9 they did not hear a voice. In english this seems like a contradiction, but when concidering the original languages, In verse 9:7 This means that they did not understand what was being said, but in verse 22:9, This means that they heard something although they may not have understood. There are many more examples like these.
The most powerful reason for the faith is not however the lack of contradictions because in order to show the Bible is free from contradictions one has to examine the entire original Bible books in their original languages.
The most powerful reason is fulfilled prophecy. Bible prophecy has been fulfilled in both ancient and modern times such at when Jeremiah predicted things concerning the construction of 9 suburbs. This was fulfilled in 1948 which is relatively recent.

The problem is not with the "contradictions" in the Bible but with the people who believe and have very little reasons for believing. These people need to examine their faith in light of the evidence not so they can find out that Christianity is false but true instead.

You say you have things against blind faith yet you have blind faith in the proposition that Christianity is blind faith. Before you accuse Christianity of being blind faith, examine the evidence.

Oh, what an invitation. Thank you.

"The fact that god is supposed to be all knowing yet people still manage to surprise him it seems (eve etc.)"
---No-one can surprise God

"The fact if God is so forgiving why cant he find it for satan?"
---you cannot have forgiveness without repentence. Satan would never be repentent. Would you be more merciful to the prince of lies than to a killer of thousands?

"The fact that evolution is a more coherant theory than creation ever was..."
---Evolution is hardly more than science fiction. There are gaping holes in it and assumptions that strectch credibility to the limit. I cite symbiosis, chromosome count anomolies, blood chemistry anomolies, flawed radio-isotope dating techniques, incomplete fossil records, lack of modern evidence of evolution, lack of failed/experimental evolutionary steps and so on.

"the fact that the bible appears to have a 30,000,000 year omision of the coming and passing of the dinosaurs before mans emergance.."
--- where does the 30,000,000 years come from/ How was it calculated? Even if it were true, who would have written the account before man was there? How are dinosaurs even relevant to the Bible? It doesn't mention kangaroos or ring tailed lemurs either.

"And as a thought... since God was the only one who existed at the time of creation... who did he dictate genesis to?"
--- Adam, who passed it on to his sons. Shem, the son of Noah was still alive some time after Abraham died, so the number of generations the story would have passed to is relatively few. Many African tribes and other cultures have storytellers who accurately recite the history of their tribe. Same thing, really, but more reliable

"I think the biggest contradition in it all is that our image of jesus is white, yet the bible clearly states he had 'hair like a lamb' which is more common to a black or asain person."
--- I think you are describing a vision rather than a physical description of Christ when He was on earth. The Bible does not state that Jesus on Earth was white.

"I think its really neive for the people to say the bible has no contradiction at all."
---You only have contradiction when you ignore context. In any case, even if there were cotradictions, there are many historical records that contradict each other, but are still reckoned to be reliable. Check out stories from World War 2, for instance. The core message of The New Testament, however, remains consistent. There is no contradiction of the fact that Christ died for our sins, that He rose from the dead, and that only by trusting and obeying Him can we be righteous in God's sight and receive Eternal Life.

Perception is King. If you are not Christian, of course, you will have a different perception of the Bible and Christianity in general. First, not all Christians (of which I am Not One) hold the Bible to be completely 100% accurate. Some do though. The people that believe its accurate think its the Word of God.
Secondly, most faith is blind faith. Faith isn't some tangible, representable thing. Some people believe because they want to. I'm sure you are guilty of the same thing- we all are. Christians are a varied group, much like any other group of (fallible) humans, they have hippocrites and nice, honest people just like any other group. But most importanly, re-examine your ideas about faith. It in no way is scientific or logical. its a Belief. Hope this helps.

30,000,000 years unaccounted for while the dinosaurs were roaming the earth? No - I've seen Raquel Welch battling with the dinosaurs, so the bible probably got it right. People must have been here since Adam and Eve, and the people must have invented the dinosaurs from the rib of a fish. I'm sure there's mention of this in the bible - you just need to learn how to interpret it.

Be honest. Don't claim you are not against things that you obviously are.

You are right about the contradictions. Read any page of the Bible and they pop out at you if you have an open mind.

They fabricate a life-raft of assumption, opinion and belief in order to afford some protection from the endless waves of uncertaintity that wash against the shore.

With all due respect, no one should say "giving all the glaring contradictions that the Bible offers" without providing at least 3 examples.

Agreed!

Prepare, however, to be well and truly flamed, grilled and fried whilst bashed repeatedly about the head with the Good Book for daring to say anything.

Christianity is not perfect yet as Christ was perfect, we are still fragile human beings trying to live the message of Christ and as such we all drop the ball sometimes, it is those who have little humility that think they have it right and that they have God in their back pocket.

it is the blind leading the blind, not to mention the bible was written by a few different people, hence the inconsistency, I guess they did not have "writers" meeting back then
