Last weekend I got sick after having two 1/2 vodka mudshakes (thats 2.7 standard drinks). I spent 20 minutes throwing up, and now a week later I keep waking up to a burning throut.

Alcohol is one of the greatest stimulants of gastric acid secretion. If you threw up after having vodka, there's a good chance that the acid literally burned your throat. Probably the impact of throwing up caused tiny microtears in your throat tissue, and the acid entered those microtears and made it possible for bacteria to enter. You may actually have a strep throat. Is the region red and sore?
Treat it like you would a sore throat: hot drinks, avoid acidic foods such as orange juice, and keep your neck warm. If it's not better by Thanksgiving, I suggest you see a physician.

I work for a physicians office and the flu is going around real bad right now. You may even have strep throat. Can you see the back of your throat and if so, are there little white pus sacs with red lines on your back of your throat? If you can see this, it is probably strep throat and you really need to see a doctor to get antibiotics.
Take care of yourself!!

I see that vodka killed brain cells as well as affected your THROAT.
