MARIPOSA: You need to read my question and then read your answer, and figure out what you're talking about. UK! No such thing as dollars in the UK, unless you go down to the foreign exchange office.

The simple answer is not one penny as if you do go over your credit limit not only will they charge but they will also want the balance back right away and the interest rate on the over spend will be higher if you really need to spend more than you have ask them to increase your credit limit but don't forget interest rates on credit cards are very high and about to go up as the Bank of England has just put interest rates up

My advice as a HSBC customer is not to go over the credit limit with those people. They will screw you good, trust me. The first thing is they will charge you an over the limit fee equally to the amount you have gone over your 2,500 line and your APR will go up their default.

Phone them and ask, if not enough ask for a increase they give money away at that place , they give all the Farepak savers money away, in fact if I was one of those who lost on Farepak , of whom HSBC is the parent Company I would apply for a card take as much out if it to cover my loss, not pay it back and tell them that Farepak as it and they can get a penny in the pound for it back

theoretically not at all, but if you go to your limit on a weekend the payments may not process until monday, during which time you can keep using the card. ie if you had the card clear on friday, you could in theory spend £2000 on friday night, then £1500, then £2000 on saturday, etc etc.

Also ROFL at John R, stupid stupid farepak loser.

thats no problem
you just go on spending and then HSBC will charge you for going over the credit limit and you will pay lots of inetrest as well.
