You will not know what was going on with the soda can from its factory, warehouse plus the people handling them. Someone mentioned mice running over them -this can happen in store or in warehouses. Though they appear clean and shiny , it does not guarantee of being clean. They can be contaminated you know. So it is always advised to clean it before opening and drinking. If you prefer, you can wash as well. Just consider it just likea glass. Will you drink in an unwashed glass? Better to stay on the safe.♥

Many assume it's not clean even if it appears so. If you want to err on the side of safety, always clean the top of your soda can. Personally, if the can appears clean, I don't bother. But if it has a little dust or residue from another soda, I clean it with a piece of paper towel and hot water.

the top of a soda can has germs like anything else that has been handled in shipping and such. if you are worried about it just wipe it off with a wet cloth. i usedto always wipe off my babies formula cans before i opened them just to be safe. i hope this helps you. hagd

you don't, unless you clean it yourself. Even if the cans came in a case, it could still be dirty from the factory.
