home made food of course. It is actually better for them also, when you make it yourself then you really know what is in it. Youd be surprised what is actually in the dog food sold at the grocery store and even the vets office. It is crap.

A lot of dogs seem to prefer table scraps, but that isn't a healthy diet!!! There are so many different foods on the market now, and dogs, like people, can have different preferences. You want to be sure to read the label on any commercial dog food- avoid by products, which are inedible parts of the animal like beaks, feet, guts, and even feathers. Rice is more digestible than corn, and the better diets are rice based. Remember that the ingredients are listed in order of the amount present, so if the ads say it has chicken, peas, and carrots, but on the label it says chicken by products and the peas are listed down with the vitamins, there are a lot more fillers than there are healthy ingredients. As for home made diets, you have to be sure you are feeding a balanced diet, and there are books available to help you be sure you are meeting ALL his needs (be sure any recipe is formulated to AAFCO standards). Small deficiencies may not show up for years, and then it's too late. Dry food is good if you want to be able to leave it out, and is the most economical. Most dogs don't need canned food, because they will eat it whether they are hungry or not, and often get fat. Some dogs will self regulate on dry food, but most need to have "portion control!" Remeber to read the labels on treats, too-- some of the treats available for dogs aren't any healthier than our junk food!

It's really not about what kind they prefer, but what is best for them! A dry food will help with keeping their teeth clean. A moist food (canned) can entice a sick or old dog to have a bit more appetite. Treats and human food should be a small portion of their diet!
If you're "home making" their food every day, make sure you get a book that explains what people-food should NOT be included (stuff like onions, that you might not think about).

l it all depends on what the dog likes. the dog may not like dry food. some dogs eat dry food and nothing else. or a dog can like all of them. I cant tell you which is the best one because it all depends on the dog. you can try each one if they don't eat one thing then move on to the next one and you just stick with the one that the dog likes. BUT you have to be careful, because if the dog likes one thing but then gets sick then you have to try a different brand or just something new. Well i hope this will answer your question.

Some dogs will eat just about anything. If you go the homemade route get recipies on line. canned , get the most nutricious you can , check labels for what is listed first....grains first put the can down. check for by-products....one can only guess what that might be. Dry foods are good as long as you do the same inspection of the bag....low on grains and fillers. Alot of this stuff can cause allergies....then you've got a problem. Introduce any new food slowly....half old half new.....then more and more new. Good luck

Home made food or canned food is ok, maybe try mixing it with some cooked rice. I think it is one cup of cooked rice to two or three cups of food. I can't quite remember!
With my dog, he has dry food in the morning, but tinned food at night, plus whatever table scraps there are. Plus he gets a bone once a week for his teeth. (can usually get these at the meat stores, or some supermarkets are starting to sell them now)

Just about everything you eat they like...You know how they will have a whole bowl full of dog food and they won't even think about it until you finish your dinner.. If you put just a little something in their dog food they will eat it all.
