I just read your med school question.

Nobody really knows the purpose of life. Those of us who choose to address the question must make our own purpose. You must make your purpose.

Med schools are NOT a good place to discover your purpose, unfortunately. Even if you are meant to be a doctor, they can drain you. They can distance you from your family, the only solid grounding you've ever had in your life. After doing that, they can reject you.

Keep in mind that your family will never reject you, no matter what happens in med school. They might be dissapointed, but they put you in med school because they want you to be happy. They ultimately want You to be Happy. No matter what happens, you will always have your family and you cannot let success or failure change that.

Maybe they can't appreciate what you're going through right now. Schools of their time were not like they are now. Regardless, you are still loved. You must keep that in your perspective.

We spend our whole lives finding the purpose of life. I could get more into it, but your problem is that life is dragging you down right now. You won't easily see the purpose of life from that perspective. All I can say for now is that the result of your exams is definitley not the purpose of life. You are best to study hard for them now, and afterwards you will be able to see more. Those exams mean very little in the big picture. For now, they are something you must go through. They are a passage, not a finale.

Astrid. I ask this same question once in a meditation. Instantly this message came floating to the surface of my thoughts.

You are hear to realize that no response other than a loving response is ever an appropriate response to any situation.

I was stunned because I had been practicing a lot and had become very good at keeping my mind a complete blank and this was very unlike the normal thoughts that I was used to shooing away.

I can't tell you that we both have the same purpose, but looking around it seems as though this idea may just be what quite a few of us are working on.

Love and blessings Don

The purpose of life is to refine ourselves so that we can be one with God. We have 5 defects that separate us from God
1. sex
2 anger
3 Love of material things
4. greed
5 Ego
We come into this life and slowly are able to refine ourself that is the goal and the purpose

to come to the knowledge of God, to love and serve Him and to bring this loving service to others, so that we may be happy with Him forever in Heaven, this is the meaning of our life and once embarked on gives true and real authentic meaning to life.

To attain salvation; to merge in God Almighty; to help mankind. Otherwise there is no difference between man and animal.
