My Father-in-Law, and my Husband are not getting along. He is mad at us because we don't care for his trashy, drug addict, lazy, unemployed, money grubbing old lady girlfriend....We love him very much, but my Husband, since they aren't getting along, refuses to waiste our money on him. He missed my step-daughter's 10yr Birthday to go visit his girlfriend last month. I will feel awful if I don't get him something. He's so hard to buy for. Any suggestions welcome.

well since you cant buy him a new girlfriend & its the holiday season you need to try and get your husband to make amends with his father life is too short to spend so much time in anger..so...the both of you should go pick out a gift together if he wont...a simple card would work maybe with a gift certifacte to one of his favorite stores..
Be the better person, you might get him a nice shirt. But if it where me I think I would get him a bible. Then maybe someday he would read it and turn his life around.

A gift Certificate for something he likes. I know you don't really like the girlfriend, but he does. Maybe a gift card for a dinner out or a movie and dinner. May as well get something they both could enjoy together, otherwise the "money-grubber" will get it anyway. It lets you know you are at least thinking about him. You don't have to put her name on it or give her anything. Christmas is not the time to show hatred and resentment.

(1) A pretty photo frame with a photo of your step daughter and husband inside, or a family shot.
(2) A wall clock with the note: "Hope you have time for us in the coming year."
(3) Acceptance of his girlfriend as none o' your business. I can understand how you might feel, but you can't love him as much as you say you do when it's obvious you don't respect him enough to let him live his own life without judging. Who he loves and lives with is his business.

you could get him a small swiss army knife if he doesn't have one. You can check victorinox.com for some options. they have some affordable small key chain ones and they come in handy.
however, i feel you should probably support your husband's wishes and not go behind him like this. esp since it's his father. your fil seems to be going through some issues and inviting a person into his life that your husband doesn't want near his family. really, i would just get your fil a card a best with a picture in side a note giving him best wishes. if even that

How about something to open his eyes to the trashy, drug addict, lazy, unemployed, money grabbing old lady girlfriend he has acquired?
I am thinking, be back with you!

A great gift would be a nice card with your thoughts also written into the
card.Regardless of the situation.A card seems to always work.Figure out
what he likes and go for the heart.
