Another D-day type senario? Could it ever happen again? Or will we just sit back and volley bombs from far away? I'm curious about the possibilities of what action we'd take to a serious enemy...not like Iraq, where the organized army fell in days.(thx to marines and the army).

Yes I think we will, We are now in the breach of WW3, for all those who don't believe me. Believe me its true, I am in Iraq right now, all this is is the beginning of World War 3 and we can't even see it with our own eyes. Africa is starting to heat up, North Korea shooting missiles, Iran shooting missiles, Syria wanting to over run Iraq why we are in here. This is all on the breach of another major war. And we Americans don't have enough troop to handle it compared to all the other countries millions of millions of troops that are belonging to their army. Thats why I think we need more troops to sign up. Just my opinion, nothing serious.

anthony is right... this is building up to ww3. and when that happens there is no other way to do that other than conventionally. ie troops on the ground digging in, pointing a gun.
what i think will happen is that the US are at a huge disadvantage in the middle east regardless of their number of troops.... as a result nucs will be lobbed.
what is interesting is that war is no longer a question of black and white, good and bad presenting it's self over time (ww2) before the war as hitler made all his moves, making it easy for joe public amoungs the allies to support action. no, in this case it is bush and blair making all the moves... and so this time, the propaganda has started alot earlier to ensure support. it is critical to their success, just as hilter did the same with germany. when germany went to war, there was hardly a german who disagreed.... that is the battle currently being waged in the US and UK, and has to be won. are they winning? who knows, i imagine a few more faulse flag operations first... i'm not sure it will affect their final decision though, as the most important thing is the loyalty of the troops that they send in.

I think so it could definately happen again. There will always be another war. It is the ugliest and perhaps most unavoidable aspect of human nature. I think the big question is going to be will the U.S be in the Economic position to wage another war on that scale. With the current account deficit, and asian countries holding so much American Currency (especially China) I think there is the possibility that the U.S will be in a very bad position should a large scale war break out.

this is a together as. The cat is out of the bag - our cutting-edge enemies have shown that they could experience our insanely high priced undercover agent satellites, reconnaissance plane, severe tech comms networks, particularly properly-knowledgeable, properly disciplined, properly geared up military - with old artillery shells, some duct tape, a splash detonation cable, a pair of walkie talkies, and a crappy white Honda %. up truck and information from a pair of your cousins. training are available on YouTube. Why spend billions to verify us in case you do no longer ought to? this is possible to attack our ships from shore with oblique hearth and from the sea with speedboats loaded with explosives. Our Air tension isn't any picnic to handle - even regardless of the undeniable fact that it is not that difficult for an enemy fighter to duck right into a crowded undemanding college, mosque, or soccer experience and wreck out. they're additionally way forward people on propaganda. you may see some thing like an EMT or information superhighway attack from an in depth to-peer like Russia or China. yet those additionally are uneven techniques in case you end and think of approximately it. Like I mentioned, this is going to be a together as...

Let's hope not. What do you mean by a "serious enemy" unlike Iraq???? War is war whether it's a serious enemy or not, it's not a game where we sit back and volley bombs, people die. I take it you've not served in the military????

I don't think conventional war is the way anymore.I'm sure these little nations/areas know that guerrilla warfare is the way to face a superior force.Look at Vietnam, hell, our own revolutionary war.

Could we do that? sure if necessary. will we? probably not, there is no real reason to do so. the point of our technological weapondry is to destroy pinpoint targets and bypass the need to destroy an entire nation (Germany in ww2)
I suspect that most future battlefields will be pretty much like what we have in Iraq now.

I don't think we'll ever be in a "conventional" war again. We could be in a massive one, but conventional warfare would be a waste of our abilities.

I think the big one is coming and it's going to be the Civilized Democracies againt the Anti-Christ Muslim Hoard, just like Nostradamus predicted. It's going to be huge and a lot of people are going to die, but we win in the end.
