My name is Berchmans and I have a son with sensory integration disorder and ASD. I am concerned about his nutrition as he is extremely picky and will eat very few foods. I am interested in any suggestions about what I can do to improve his eating habits. He will be 3 in november.

Be sure to give vitamins. That's what I have to do for my son as he is a picky eater as well. He loves the gummy vitamins.

I am not sure what those disorders are, but my 2 and 3 year olds are extremely picky eaters too and I know how frustrating it can be. The only thing that I suggest is when they're hungry, feed them. Some people say oh its too late at night or whatever but the way I see it, is if they're finally going to eat, feed them. Give him vitamins...of cartoon characters or something to keep his nutrients normal and just keep trying. Junk food is a big no no though. If they know they don't have to eat every bite of real food, they won't do it saying they're full...but put junk food in front of them and they'll eat. I just suggest to stay constant in trying new foods and feeding him whenever he will eat even if it is an inconvenient time.

Vitamins, vitamins. Chewable, of course. He will be fussy if he doesn't know what he is eating. Plain foods only, not casseroles, mixtures, plain foods.

When he gets older, his taste buds change and his world will open up to more varieties. He's okay if he's the right weight and heighth for his age.

The best advice I ever got...

Offer only healthy foods & offer the same new food for a week. Eventually they will try it, especially if they see you eat it.

It may mean a lot of green beans or grilled cheeses... but it usually works.
