This sort of swallowing problem is often associated with gastric reflux disease. The upper esophageal sphincter tightens up and makes swallowing difficult, makes you feel like something's stuck, and is worse in the evening.
See a gastroenterologist, have a swallowing study done by a speech pathologist, and an upper GI study. This should pinpoint the problem.

If it is gone in the morning and appears later in the day, it could be stress. Stress can cause all kinds of symptoms. The feeling of having a lump in your throat is very common. It goes away during the night because your stress level is down. If it were tonsils or lymph glands, it would not go away at night.

I've helped one person with this, I hope I can help you too. You might have Globus Hystericus. The muscles in the throat contract when you are experiencing stress or anxiety. Does it feel like you have a huge glob of phlegm in your throat that you can't swallow and you can't hack up? Try to be stress free, I know, easier said than done. If that doesn't help, go to the Dr., tell him about it, he might put you on a mild antidepressant. That may help you. Good Luck!!!!

Could be temporary but needs a good dose of antibiotics. Swollen glands could make this happen, a virus, flu. You know what I'm going to tell you next (and everyone else is, too)...GIT to the DOCs! Don't let it get worse and close your windpipe!

Sounds like it may be swollen glands or tonsils. You may just be fighting of a cold or virus. Wait a few more days, if it's still bothering you go and see your doctor. You may be prescribed some antibiotics to help your body fight whatever it is that's bothering you.

I don't want to scare you but it could be serious. It could be just swollen tonsils, but I found this:

"The most common symptom of esophageal cancer is difficulty swallowing, or dysphagia, with the sensation of food getting stuck in the throat or chest."
