Coffee contains caffeine which is a diuretic. That is, it causes water in the body to be excreted quite easily. If you consume too much caffeine it can indeed deplete your body's water content. I haven't heard the one about it causing miscarriage, but given the effects of caffeine on the body (aside from the diuretic effect it also affects the nervous system and blood pressure), it would be wise for pregnant women to limit their caffeine intake. I switched to decaf coffee when I was pregnant because of the effect on blood pressure and didn't have any problems. Also, any substance (food, cigarettes, drugs, etc.) that a pregnant woman ingests goes right through to the baby. Miscarriage risk aside, it's not good for babies.

I don't know about the miscarraige,
but coffee does deplete the body's water, I've heard that if you drink a cup of coffee you should drink a cup of water too.
(I heard that from a tv show about health and exercising)

Yes, anything containing caffeine depletes water from your system. Which is why many people like water when they are drinking coffee.
About the miscarriage, I'm not sure, check with a Doctor.
Peace.

Coffee has an ingredient that causes the kidneys to release water from the body. But at the same time, you are drinking water, so the net effect is small.
