It was caused by misbehavior and disobedience of the human themselves. As you can see the first creation of Adam and Eve were the residents of the Heaven (How much God's love is towards mankind) but owing to the disobedience of Adam aroused from being misleaded by the Satan, Adam and Eve were sentenced to live on Earth.
As you know besides human, Satan also lived on earth. From the descending of as little as Ten Commandments
(Only a few restrictions, because God doesn't want to put much restrictions on us) people at that time just turned their deaf ears towards the commands. As years went by , owing the ignorant of the human , more and more sins had been created, as a creator, God had to descend more and more restrictions on human and unfortunately to what I see the stubbornness of human had even dared to alter and misinterpret the original contents of the holy book , God had no other choice except to descend the final holy quran which contains a total of 6,666 commandments. It is rather a warning sign for all human, if even the final religion won't correct the disobedience and faith of human towards the God, it will only bring disaster to the human themselves and until to a certain extend of provoking God's anger, It will be the end of the world.

The true religion is believing in one God, and it was a massage of various prophets through history of mankind but people began to add or take away from the teachings so as to take control over each other. Man made religions are an abomination before the Lord and will never be accepted. He will only accept true submission, obedience and in purity and peace to His commandments.

Very good question. There is but only one God, but saints, rishis, and I must add, different culture and people call It different names. There are many religions because there are different level of consciousness or understanding. The proper understanding of God require that It must communicate with you at your level of understanding. While I may not stand Christianity because her tenet is too rigorous or simple for me, it may be tailor made for someone else. Do you remember the story of few blind men who touched the different part of an elephant and then described different thing according to where they touched? So it is with God.

No, there are many gods and many lords that people worship. Most people are not serving the true God in the way that he approves. To worship him correctly, we must go exactly by what the Bible says without mixing it with paganism. We must worship God with "spirit and truth." See John 4:24.

there are different Cultures and Societies who have different needs for the Religious Belief System to fulfill. a GOD which works for a hunter - gatherer group may not work for an agricultural group. therefore each group will develop a Religion which suits and answers their individual needs. over time when small societies interacted with each other they adopted some of the other societies belief system into their own causing changes. these changes kept developing until many diverse belief systems emerged.

Everyone has their own beliefs. The people who belive in only one God all have different beliefs about him too. Jews, Christians, and Muslims all believe in one God. But its obvious to the world that they dont agree with eachothers beliefs. Thats why their are so many different religions, because people have different beliefs.
