I see the word "hate" bantied about here without acknowledgement that it is a provocative word. It exaggerates an argument to an extreme emotional level and abandons the intellectual context of the problem. In truth, if you check, very few statements here indicate hate until someone accuses the other side of hating them.

Is not "disagree with" a belief, argument, or action more reasonable as an expression? Do people really believe when someone holds a different opinion, that difference results in the most extreme emotional reaction possible? Do you feel hated when someone strongly disagrees with you, or instead do you feel hurt, defensive, or misunderstood?

It is the defensiveness. People feel they have to defend their point, and if they don't have a intellectual way to do that then they resort to something more simple.

I have no hatred towards anyone who believes differently than I do. I feel like we should be able to agree to disagree on topics such as religion. No one can change my beliefs and I'm sure many others feel the same, so I try to be patient and understanding of others opinions and beliefs. I respect their right to worship and believe as they see best for themselves.

to me there is a definite difference as disagreement with another means one is ready willing and able to accept the right of another to the free will to decide for themselves and tolerate the differences while hate mean there is no respect for a difference of opinion and free will so the differing party's idea must be destroyed at all cost.

Anything that is not supportive of a particular thought system is seen as an attack on that system by the believers.

Sad but often true.

Disagreeing means you accept the belief system, you just don't subscribe to it.

Hating it means you don't respect it's right to exist and will take measures, verbally, physically or otherwise to destroy it.

Haters suck.
