no.the verse that says about wife beating is often misinterpreted by many non-Muslims and some Muslims.i would go into explanation but most of the people on here are close minded so it would be useless to try to prove these people wrong.

So if the Quran says that you will reject Islam and if it doesn't you will convert to Islam? Is this the way you judge things? Islam gave women rights that the western women today dream to have. Just think of the women as mothers, daughters, sisters, and not only wives. To answer your question I will say that Allah the One and Only true God who created humans and knows best what is good for them allowed a man as a last resort to beat his trouble making wife in a very gentle way (using a finger or a tooth brush over the shoulder or the back and not the face, and not to say bad words) just to indicate that things have reached its limits and after that it is only divorce. The man has this right to try to save his marriage which is important not only to him but also to his kids. Now this should be exceptional and rare in Muslims life but just compare to data from the USA regarding violence against women and you will know who is right. Muslim wives have also rights that preserve their dignity.

introductory. The Arabic Quran. The Arabic lexicon. Each word has several meanings. In this quotation, referenc is to the a nagging, disobedient, rebellious wife. There are several stages of her therapy. At the end, when nothing works, she has to be restricted(by the community--not by husband). The word used for restricting also means \beating' which when further explained restricts'beating' softly, such as by a tooth brush. Face has not to be struck. The object is to show that by her deeds she has humiliated, not injured by beating. The meaning of imposing restrictions is more suitable in our times. Again, it is community action, not the husbands.

Though the Koran can be attributed to a lot of things that could be distasteful to you, it has not said anything like that.

In fact, it has been quite positive in it's protection of the Muslim Woman.

That some Muslims do beat their wives; which is very common among the Pakistanis, it has no religious sanction.

Also, many misguided Muslims do commit atrocities supported by equally if not more misguided Imams; but we cannot blame Islam for that.

Have a nice day.

No it does not say that at all. It does mention that a husband is ONLY ever allowed to lay hands on his wife if she, fo no reason, denies him his marital rights (sexual relationship). That is because women have many options to folow if they do not love their husbands anymore and want to leave them, but for a wife to use sex as punishment or means of pressure on her husband is not allowed.

No it does not.
When she commits adultery or steal his money...that's another matter. Not being happy is not good enough reason.
