People are different. In the old days, they fought wild animals a couple times a month. So they didn't scare too easy. That's why they kept people in
line with a God that would kick their @ss!
People in the Middle East are desert dwellers, and tough people. So it's the same. They have been kept in line with threats of a God that will kick their
@ss!
But what we call God gives of its self freely, keeping us all alive. This is
our world. We make our beds, and we have to sleep in them.
If we could only see how much more awaits us out there?

Christianity clearly believes that their god will consign billions of humans to their hell and only the right sort of xtian will be spared these concentration camps.
If xtians had a god who was genuinely just and loving this threat and fear approach would not be necessary. It is a sad fact that the fear of fire and brimstone strand of xtian belief is growing and they hold many of the 'faithful' through fear of hell rather than the love of god.
Islam has a very similar approach and it is no accident that both religions have had a very violent aggressive history to non-believers and indeed their co-coreligionists who believed the wrong things.
Fear very often leads to hatred and violence whether in a religious context or not,and with this aspect being built in to many religions it is no surprise that the history of the world is bloodstained with the handy work of the 'true believers' whatever their specific belief system.
In the world today the only major religions that do not have this 'believe or else' attitude are the eastern ones,Buddhism,Hinduism etc and in the west the resurgent pagan beliefs that were so effectively suppressed by the xtian Roman Empire and the Monarchical states that came after.

Religions that emphasize the severe side of their gods do not have a God that loves people so much to send His Son to die for their sins and to help to live abundant and eternal lives. These religions have only one side of the story to tell, the losing and not the winning side. Christianity recognises the severity of sin but have the solution to have victory of sin provided by their God of love. The choice of Who to believe in is so obvious.

It was clearly understood that God had given more freedom to the previous one but owing to this more and more sins had been created by the human thus in the final holy Quran, God had to emphasized more on the severe punishment so as to restrict human from doing wrong. Those who are really scared of God's punishment are those religious ones.

>>>For example Islam teaches that Allah will punish all those who have not lived by his teaching whereas Christianity teaches that God will forgive you if repent>>>
That's because Islam is wrong about this particular topic, and Christianity is right.

I follow a Pagan belief where "an it harm none, do what thou wilt" is the main rede.
Although there is a three fold law.
Where much like karma what ever you send out will come back to you..
So Karma will come back to you in this life, while you live it.

I agree with "Bubbles".
Also I believe punishment is in religion to instill fear into those who disobey. When the masses were mostly uneducated they would believe what is said because they did not know any different.

possibly God does, basically because human beings do not and folk say that, i ought to say it should be extra valuable to ask God about God than guy about God, even with each thing if God is actual, then why do you imagine you're unworthy to commune which include your human being author, because guy says that too, that purely lifeless ancestors of the Isrealites ought to attempt this?

Religion, as I see it, is merely a reflection of man's inability to grasp the concept of where we come from. Instead of God making us in his image, we have made God in ours. Hence the good cop - bad cop routine. It is merely a reflection of the sides of humanity.
