If you are a teacher you are a professional. Deal with the problem or issue in a professional manner.
Always document conversations so that you will have something to go on in the future if need be.
Treat people with respect and listen to both sides before coming to a conclusion.
Everyone has feelings. Treat people how you would want to be treated.
Remeber without the families you wouldn't have a business.

Most issues that need resolved in a early childhood setting have to do with discipline. Since every child develops at a different rate, it is more important to deal with teaching them how to become social in a positive way. I deal with all aspects everyday and the most important thing as a teacher is to teach small children to become independent, social, loving children rather than agressive bullies.

I have found that any issue involving co-workers needs to be dealt with as quickly as possible and in private.
Issues with parents should be mediated and jargon talk minimized. Start with positive things and ask for assistance with the difficult, don't attack, don't accuse, and use "I" statements instead of you and him/her. Most defiantly end with positive and "thank you for your time and help" (don't forget to smile and make eye contact).
Issues with children get down to their level, sit on the floor or next to them and help them problem solve. Don't just tell them show them and explain simply. Give lots of smiles and hugs!

As a childcare provider trainer some of the issues that I am most often approached with are lack of parent involvement, low pay, and issues with co workers.
