I'm an intelligent guy but I find with some girls I approach think I'm a thicko because of my strong London accent. Does any body with a regional accent have this problem too? Or are we just attracted to snobby @rseholes?

Sadly I think you could be right - but don't let it put you off trying. Inject a bit of ****-er-knee humour and you should do just fine.

when i was in america last year girls kept coming up to our party because we have scottish accents, all you had to do was a (to our ears anyway) bad sean connery impression and bob's your uncle. accents do seem to put some people off. try ordering a drink in london with a scottish accent and you either get some tw*t going "och aye the noo" or just not understanding you.

People seem to like the Glaswegian accent but I find I have to speak much slower so anybody outside Glasgow has a clue what I'm saying ;)

I have a soft scottish accent.I do not live in Scotland anymore,so I have retrained myself to speak very clearly and concisely.Men seem to love my accent, and I have never put any man off with my accent.
