No, there is not. Before you decide to take a medication as a substitute for Remeron, you need to consult with your doctor. You also should not stop this medication without consulting with him first. Even if you do stop the remeron, it will be in your system for up to 2 weeks after you quit taking it, and no other drugs need to be taken before you talk to the doctor because there are OTC drugs that you cannot take that will interact with the remeron.

Remeron is an (older) antidepressant that can be particularly helpful as a sleep aid. If sleep is the issue here, there may be other options, although I have never found a very effective OTC medication for sleep. The exception would be, if it's just an occasional problem, then the OTC stuff might do the trick. There are other types of prescription medications for sleep specifically that may address your needs more (like Lunesta or Ambien, for example). I have heard a lot of mixed things about these though, from people who have been on them. There are also some more natural things you can try like Valarian Root.

If depression is also the issue, nothing you get OTC will be as effective. St. John's Wort can help alleviate mild depression and should not be taken with actual antidepressants. There is something called Sam-E that is supposed to be quite helpful, but it's also rather expensive.

Nyquill.it is OTC ..but it will knock you out..
only use it if you can sleep and do not have to go anywhere you have to drive..
But if you are prescribed Remeron by a doctor, I suggest you take it as dirrected or at least wean yourself off slowly..do not cut it out of your system cold turkey..

Also, let your doctor know that you no longer wish to take this medication, they might have some answers or can get you headed in the right direction to someone who knows Homeopathy ( study of natural products to help the body)
