I have a maltipoo rescue dog named Lexington but I call him Lexi for short. I love him to death and have never loved another animal like that. He truly embodies every meaning of the term "best friend". Last year was a really rough year for me and I slipped into a period of depression. I would come home and cry almost every day and the poor dog, every time he heard me crying, would pull on me and try to get me to play. I trained him not to do that when he was a puppy, and I thought it was weird that he only did it when I was crying. Then one day some of my tears were on my hands and he licked them up. I remember thinking in that moment that I would never find a human that would do that and then I didnt feel so alone anymore.
Sometimes I see so much hostility towards mixed breeds on this website, but I love Lexi and i don't care what breed he is. Truth is in some sense I'm a mutt too- mixed Colombian and Dominican and it does change who I am. And if lexi doesnt mind having a mixed owner then I dont mind having a mixed dog. lol :)

I had a pure breed dog...but he passed about 2 months ago :*(
I now have 2 mixed breeds. The first mix she's one of the greatest dogs ever, I couldn't have asked for a better dog to help ease the pain and loss of my other dog, and my other mix she's very shy, needs a bit of work, but other then that she's a great girl.
My first mix breed girl is a Shepherd Husky, the other is a Border Collie mix.
With out my Shepherd Husky mix I don't know if I could have lived on with out my pure bred dog. My pure bred dog was my best friend, my baby, he was with me since before I was born. He passed a the age of 16 1/2 years, he had a great life, and I had a great life with him.....

I have a lab/border collie mix that is truly the most intelligent dog I've ever known. In my personal opinion, the belief that only purebreds are good breed is the same as saying the offspring of a white guy and a mexican girl is low quality. It's ridiculous. Besides, how many of these pure bred dogs have pure bred owners? Good thing for us the dogs don't get to decide they only want pure bred humans or most people in the world would never have a dog...

My wife and I have had purebred dogs and a variety of mutts throughout the years. At one point we had 2 purebred collies plus a tiny terrier mix I bought for about $5. The day we brought our 2nd collie puppy home, our kids wanted to go to the beach with the new pup, plus our grown collie and the terrier. I had 3 dogs plus kids to watch. Somehow the new puppy wandered away. We looked for the pup for more than an hour. I was sure it had been dognapped. But before we left I went over to the terrier, who was named Pogo, and said, "Find the puppy, Pogo!" He sniffed around for a couple of minutes, then walked up to a bush and went into a point. The puppy was asleep in the shrubbery. He made my day!

My first 3 dogs were mutts... loved them to death. My Rott/Shepherd was the love of my life. I lost her in May at the age of 13, she was 1 day old when I got her (mother abandoned the pups) and the smartest dog I've ever met. If I would have known about agility, we would have done it and she would have excelled at it. She chased off an attempted burglar at just over 1 year of age, a bark like I've never heard before and never heard after that day. She may well have saved my life. I miss her tons!!

I have a LabX, she's not a pure breed so I guess she's considered a mutt........hehehe. Don't know what she is crossed with since she was a rescue, but she's the best dog ever (other than my 2 Shih-tzus of course) She gets lots of compliments every time we go out for our walks in new areas, people just love her size I call her my apt. sized lab since she looks like a lab only smaller, she only weighs 38 lbs ;o) She is also very smart, most of the tricks she knows she learned in just one evening.
