do i have warts now? Its around my rectum. They aren't big at all, I just notice them when I wipe. He doesn't have any at all. Neither one of us has slept with other ppl. So how can this be? Can the doc be wrong? Can it be just cancer? I am scared and confused. Usually cancer in the anus doesn't happen til over 50 yrs old. I am only 23. What is going on with me? Sometimes it feels like my hubby is worried about having sex with me, but if i started to show warts around my anus, then he already has it as well, but we both have been very loyal. Is it possible that one of us had it befor we got together 2 years ago? Please help.

You went to the ER for warts? The Emergency Room? For warts?

You have HPV. You may have warts, or not. Either way you still have HPV, the virus that causes the warts (whether they are visible or not) and sometimes cervical cancer.

It is sexually transmitted. If you have been faithful, time to have a chit chat w/ the hubby.

I was diagnosed with HPV when I was pregnant with my son 18 years ago. My husband and I were faithful to each other, but we each had partners before we got together. My doctor told me that I could have gotten the virus from ANY of my prior partners, including my husband; it was not at all possible to say where they came from. The virus can be dormant for years, then surface with warts at a time when your immune system is vulnerable. Pregnancy is just such a time, but there are other times.

My husband didn't think he had any warts, so I got them burned off, but they kept coming back. Finally, he went to a urologist, who found a few very small ones, lasered them off, and I never had another problem with it.

You should both be treated, even if you don't think he has any. Avoid contact with the warts themselves in the meantime. That means a condom for him. And that's not entirely foolproof, so be careful.

You can carry the virus for years, before it appears.
Get a second opinion from another doctor
