Your mom has you best interest at heart.
Once you leave the home of your mother, then you can become a vegetarian. Read up on what you need to eat. It not as easy as just eating vegetables.
Here's two places to start.

But, until you leave home, offer to cook a vegetarian meal for the family. It might be easier once you show your mom that you are serious about this and have taken the time to make SURE you are getting a healthy diet. If your mom still doesn't let you, you can still offer to make a vegetarian dish for the meals, make sure you use different foods so you will already have a good idea of what you are getting into and be ready when you move out on your own.
And if you want to win people over don't tell them how terrible they are for eating meat. It turns people off, instead offer of make them a vegetarian dish.
And no I'm not a vegetarian, love some of the food though, and yes I know how meat get to my dinner table, and yes I still eat it. I also hunt and fish, and I try to use all the animal and try not to waste. Don't forget the everything lives off something else.
Don't forget some of the fruitarians ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fruitarian ) look down on vegetarians for taking the lives of plants.
Don't rant and don't get angry.
Hope it helps.

Has your mom not seen the recent study that links red meat to breast cancer in women? Also, red meat is loaded with cholesterol and makes people fat. I ate a mostly vegetarian diet for over a year. I've never had more energy then I did at that time. I felt so great. I lost weight but not drastically. It was a gradual thing and I still looked healthy. If you eat a balanced diet you do not need meat. My skin and my hair looked wonderful! They've never looked better. Everything you get from meat can be found from other sources. I'm pregnant with my third child and I eat meat because 1)I crave it like crazy when I'm pregnant and 2) I can't keep my iron levels up and I cannot keep iron pills down But once this baby is here I'm back to eating no red meat and very little of any other type of meat.
My main reason for cutting meat is the fact that the animals are pumped full of toxic chemicals that we then ingest. Not healthy! Our family lives on natural foods. We avoid boxed foods and anything containing preservatives and other chemicals. Your mom is a nurse but I bet there are prepackaged foods in your house that contain hydrogenated oils (trans fat) and high fructose corn syrup. Does anyone in your family drink soda? Being a nurse does not make one an expert on nutrition. My mom-in-law is a nurse and drinks diet coke like it is water!! That is not healthy at all. She also gets fast food for dinner most nights.
Maybe you could offer to cook a few nights a week. Or research vegetarian recipes and suggest a few to your mom that might be good to try. I have an excellent recipe for broccoli quesadillas that everyone loves, not just vegetarians. Maybe compromise. Ask your mom if she'd be willing to limit meat recipes to just a few nights a week and you'll help her plan the other meals that will be vegetarian. Reassure her that it doesn't have to be weird and it doesn't mean you'll have to eat tofu. Even meat eaters do not need to eat it every night of the week.
Good luck!

ok.. do you want to be a vegetarian or a "junk foodatarian" because eating Cheetoes and Mt. Dew doesn't make you a vegetarian.
Why don't you start by asking if you can cut down your intake of meats.. Start with red and progress from there. Unless you are willing to learn what you need to eat to make up for the lack of protein and iron in your diet, your mom is right.
If you can get her to let you have meat, say fish, only 2X a week, you need to show her that you are making up for it with other nutritious foods, tofu, soy, hummus, ect. Going straight veg is not going to work, you will get sick. I was a vegetarian for 8 years, but I had to start by cutting things out slowly. And take some vitamins!

eat veggies, fruits and morning star products (soy). Explain to your parents why you want to become a vegetarian and ask your mom for some vegetarian friendly food that can substitute for meat. (vitamins). I agree that meat is healthy and i eat meat (i am not a vegetarian). Although if you feel becoming a vegetarian will make you feel better, go ahead, but if you start it, you must stick with it. GOOD LUCK!!!

I am not a vegetarian but I respect anyone's right to be one if they choose. How old are you? That makes a difference. Ultimately, your parents are responsible for you. My initial reaction is that if you have to ask how to become a vegetarian you have not yet put enough thought and research into it, and might not yet be mature enough to be one without family support.
You have to remember that if you choose to be a vegetarian it will change things for your parents - grocery shopping, meal preparation, cooking, etc. You don't necessarily have a right to impose that on them. Do you plan to do your own shopping and prepare your own meals? Your mom would obviously know a great deal about nutrition, and she is thinking of you.
You need to sit down and discuss this sensibly with your parents if you are really serious. Be able to explain to them how you will get enough protein, that you will learn to cook tasty, well balanced vegetarian meals, and that you will make sure it will not compromise their lifestyle or give them more work. Possibly explain that you will continue to eat eggs and dairy products. Be able to present how you will make sure that you have adequate nutrition.
These sites may help you learn more about your interest in being a vegetarian.

A vegetarian diet that is balanced, is much better for you than one that has lots of red meat. In our house, my hubby cooks vegetarian just because he wants us to live a long time and not give ourselves colon cancer. Offer to take over the cooking, and show her what great recipes there are. Do you have any money of your own? You could buy a package of frozen shelled edamame and make yourself a little dish of them as a snack, right in front of her. Edamame are yummy because they're beans, but they taste like nuts! Then you'll be leading by example! Good luck. Moms can be stubborn.

not one of the folk I loaf round fairly costume like that, yet i'd be mendacity if I suggested there have been not females at my college who come to college dressed way too inappropriately. i'm 18 and the really time I *ever* positioned on a thong is after I positioned on my leggings as pants with a flowy blouse. i understand there is seamless undies yet that would really bypass so a techniques once you're wearing leggings. i don't think of that oldsters would enable their youthful children to costume like that, i imagine it is extra of a project the position the youngsters attempt to rebellion so that they are going to do in spite of they could to attempt this. like all different commentor suggested, females can positioned on revealing outfits and only positioned on a jacket over it and take it off even as they get to college. human beings are going to do what they want to do and there is not some thing we may be able to fairly do about it. frequently females who act like that are not going to modify each and each and every time quickly so the perfect you may do isn't hunch to that factor and keep being 'mature'..

I was a vegetarian my whole life..Raised a vegetarian..Up until I was about 19 I started eating fish...I feel guilty but I get lots of protein. This is my advice as long as you educate yourself about how to get lots of protein its perfectly healthy. You can argue how many diseases have been linked with eating especially red meat, it is NOT healthy..Today there are sooooooo many meat free sources of protein, find a natural food coop or store in or near your neighborhood, you will be bombarded with endless choices..And if you can't handle taking meat out of your diet completely atleast eat cage free eggs, and free range chicken.

I know exactly what you mean, when I told my parents I wanted to become a vegetarian they wouldn't believe me, they thought it would be a thing for a month and then I would eat again meat, but that didn't happened, so they tried to make me eat chicken!, it was really difficult for me, they didn't help me at all, until they realized that I wasn't gonna change my mind and they started to help me, not much but at least now after 5 years of being veggie they respect my decision.
good luck with that!
