100 is average. 140 is considered a genius. So 130 is pretty good. Because I.Q. scales are on a bell curve, it places you in the top five to 10 percent of the population.
Depending on your talents and interests, you could find yourself in a whole range of professions. Mensa reports people with high I.Q.s don't fit in one job: Some are rocket scientists, but others are janitors.
Of course, an high I.Q. makes it easier to master a 'brainy' job.

The most important thing to remember about testing, is that a test only measures what it is measuring and to see what it may or may not be able to predict, you need to study the research and look at longitudinal studies, and even then there are exceptions to what appear to be trends.
An IQ result is simply one way to describe a person's mental development. The only thing it means is that on that specific I.Q. test, you received that score. There are different versions of the test and some are more thorough and better describe mental ability than others. The most reliable versions are detailed, administered one on one by a PhD in psychology, and last at least an hour.
The IQ does not take motivation, experience, education, or persistence into account and is only one tool in guiding a person through the process of choosing a nd pursuing a career or profession.
Generally with an IQ around 130, you should be suited to achieve academically and find your way into a career or profession that interests you. You can also talk to a career counselor about taking an "interest inventory" (there is one called Küder) which can tell you more about how your personality suits different careers. Aptitude tests measure more specific mental skills used to acheive academically. In any case, do not let the result of any single test determine what you will pursue!

The number is above average, however, I have seen people with IQ's of 90 to 100 function with more effectiveness than a person with 130. Do not ever think a higher IQ makes one have better judgment or wisdom than a lower number. Number is potential, work makes success.

Mines around 140 and it means Squat. All your IQ shows is your ability to retain info and problem solve but it doesn t mean you HAVE ever learned anything . Having an IQ that s Higher then 90% of the pop. is not ness. a great thing. It s not always good to see and know things others don t or to have to constantly explain yourself because what you said was misunderstood. There s a reason the saying "Ignorance is Bliss" came to be. Oh I agree with the above comment , If your IQ is truly 130 you would know that it s the low end of "Gifted" I d get it re-checked.

The scale for the test has the average at 100. If you are 130 then that is pretty good and well above average. The school probably has opened the average range both above and below the 100 point mark quite a bit. This is so someone who scores low doesn't have to get told they are stupid and possibly get their feelers hurt. Unfortunately, it also means you don't get told you are smart, just average.

No, a 130 IQ places you in the 98th percentile. If you took a real IQ test, you would already know that. IQ correlates with academic success, so someone with an IQ of 130 would be expected to be above average in their academic performance throughout high school and university.

My IQ is 130 (I've just took a test) but if I was tired it could be considerably lower. You need to take a few tests in one day and round up the average score, either that or look up Howard Gardner and his multiple inteligences.

When you ask if an iq of 130 is average, I seriously doubt that you have an iq at that level.
