What happens when you "pop" a herpes lesion when it first erupts? Does it turn into an ulcer, or does it scab over?

You shouldn't be "popping" the lesions! You will make the lesions heal slower. And, even more importantly the herpes virus is in the sores and by "popping" them you are increasing the possibility of spreading the virus. Stop "popping" them.

That is somewhat dependent upon where the lesion is and how you went about 'popping' it. If done correctly it should crust over and heal without incident although healing may be preceded by an ulceration. If done incorrectly however it may lead to infection. Signs of infection include redness, swelling, and discharge.

it will turn into an ulcer first and then it will scab over. Please, try your best to not pop them because that puss is filled with the virus and you can spread it to other parts of your body.
