You just need to read the manual. It is clearly stated as mine was. I would give you an estimate but these can vary so much depending on the size.
Also take into account how many you are feeding and the possibility that you may need to add chocolate as time progresses.

Actually it takes less then you would think. Each fountain takes a different amount. Read the directions on the package before you buy.
