Okay, I have bought several bottles of Ouzo, and one seems to have some weird type a crystal sediment on the bottom. It is noticable, but the taste seems unaltered. Any idea what this is..why it's ther..and is this stuff still safe..this has even confounded a 5 star chef..and a cooking /hotel instructor!

It is of course stored at room temp, not near an icebox, and never touched ice..was not like this when it came into the house! Something is so weird, I HAVE seen this seperation happen with ouzo served over ice..but these crystals look much different than the white flakey things that float ontop of ouzo served over too much ice.

This was a great answer..thank you, but I need to know what happened, there was NO chilling whatsoever involved with this bottle. And was not like this when I bought it.
Thanks for the great response..any more out there?

Sounds like it ha either been chilled or gotten very cold at some point in time.
The crystals sometimes seen in ouzo served cold are crystalline anethole, the constituent of anise aroma. That's why one should avoid serving ouzo cold.
