I've researched just about every possible avenue on what it may be. When I asked her to describe what exactly occurs, she said that it feels like her airway is clogged, which causes her to cough uncontrollably. Sometimes she even experiences slight chest pain, which may be a result of all the coughing, and also light-headedness.

Any ideas on what this may be?

I guess that if Atheism would cause intelligence, everyone should stop believing in anything, we would have a very intelligent world who would walk around thinking and believing that, they were put on earth as a gift to the ignorants. Egyptians, Incas, Mayas, Aztecs , Romans and all ancient civilizations whom were the first great scientists, architecs, astrologists etc.. all had Beliefs, Worshipping the Sun "Re" and building whole cities surrounding the direction of the sun for light and time and had running water in their cities.. no pollution and all was ecolo.. they had calendars, the first calendars which are being used today, the right time, right day , right year and ways to describe history to this day.. so I wonder if, Atheists could do that and what is " intelligence" in that case? Enjoy pollution and fight everyone's beliefs by trying to make the world think that, they are the Intelligent ones?

It could possibly be bronchitis too. The best thing to do is to get her to the doctor and have a chest x-ray done.
