Does anyone know the size diffrences in bivona brand and shiley brand traches? My daughter uses shiley but we were sent a bivona by mistake. I remember reading on a wall chart in the ER that they are not the same in size, its like a half size up or down maybe? Not sure. I cant find it anywhere on line. I need the Ped sizes if possible since that is what she wears. She is in a 4.0 Ped Shiley

Binova's and shiley's are quite different. Does your daughter wear a cuffless shiley? If she does that you can ABSOLUTELY not replace with the binova. Binova trachs have a sponge like cuff unlike the cuffed shiley that has a thin rubbery-plastic cuff inflated by air.

The size is not so much the problem, a half size too big or too small will not losen or tighten her stoma, if worn very temporarily. What I would do if I were you, leave her present shiley in place and just be vigilant about inner cannula changes and cleanings. Contact the company immediately so that they can replace the incorrect trach, if you make a big stink, they'll do it even quicker.
