Hmmm, it can work either way. I know friends who have had their folks do that - and they never smoked again.
Another was violently ill at the time but then had such a massive nicotine withdrawl he never really stopped smoking since.
Might be more practical to try and encourage them to stop - and be honest / open about it.
I have to say it is also an INCREDIBLY confusing message to be bullied this way by a dad who is himself a smoker. How will you answer the question as to why YOU smoke? Sure you can do the "do as I say and not as I do" thing - but you WILL lose some respect I suggest for that approach.
Your call, but I would say proceed with great caution. Oh, and when they start vomiting, stop the scheme unless you want to take them to A&E for acute nicotine poisoning.

it would not damage their bodies, except for them maybe having to vomit a lot,
my uncle made us boys ( a lot of friends ) he caught us with a cigar, actually sit down and smoke the whole thing right then and their..we all got sick, I do not smoke and as far as I know the guys that he made do it..do not smoke either....
he got permission from their parents first...
make a big impression on me...
then the girl I was going out with in high school was training to be a nurse and she worked at a cancer hospital, and seeing people with no noses, no lips, pieces of fingers cut off, and pieces of their tongues gone, and talking through a voice box and so forth and so on...really did it for me....never in my life will I smoke...
my aunt broke her wrist, she went for ex-rays ans blood work, in her blood work they found something wrong, a week later her lung was taken out and the one she has left, also had a small chunk taken out...she may not live until summer..and she was healthy until she went for blood work....five years ago my old uncle had a heart attack and when the doctor opened her up, he said you can always tell when a patient is smoker, everything is all sticky and a lot of black plaque all around the heart, and he had a hard time finding good veins in his LEGS..from my uncle smoking..
so I guess I will never take it up....
good luck

It might dissuede some. But the risk of damage is large.
Now- My parents are raising my nephew. And they had a friend who was a long-time heavy smoker, and he went into the hospital with cancer. Needless to say, he looked awful, and the feeds and IVs didn't help. So my parents took my nephew to see this friend. They made him look, even when he tried to back out of the room. Then they told him exactly what happened. And made sure he understood it could happen to him too, if he ever started smoking.
Needless to say, he is going to have a lot of second thoughts abotu smoking.

You BOTH need to take a trip to the Intensive Care Units at your local hospitals, ask to see patients who are there because of smoking. I can only HOPE that it will scare BOTH of you straight!!!
My late husband died due to smoking related issues. It was an agonizing death for him and NOT a fun thing for me to watch and go through, either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND BOTH of you get on this net and USE your Search Engine(s) to RESEARCH, Emphysema, COPD, Smoking related Bladder & Prostate cancer, Respiretory Failure due to MRSA and visit http://www.lungusa.org/site/pp.asp?c=dvLUK9O0E&b=22542 and RESEARCH some MORE................

That's actually i trick used by some psycologists so it can't be that dangerous. But then again its used on regular smokers, so it might hurt a child... I suggest a visit to a cancer patient in a hospital...

I dont think that would be a good idea. Nowadays, that would be considered abuse and contributing to a minor. Back in the day you could probley get away with it to include a trip to the wood shed. Would recommend counseling.

That's stupid. If you really want your kids to stop smoking then, when you catch them, take off your belt and beat the ever loving hell out of them.
They won't do THAT again.

You need to stop smoking for an example for your kids, you should not let them smoke entire package, you need to let them know the health hazards of smoking. please stop smoking yourself!
