if you have a fave recipe for something off the wall or better yet, for an international sandwich, like the mexican or cuban torta or the vietnamese sandwich (yum), then please... share your recipies with me! remember to tell me what kind of bread, all the condiments, and where i can get some of the ingredients!

for example, in a vietnamese sandwich i recently ate, there seemed to be some spicy pickled thinly sliced daikon... where can i get those?!

Hey, wookie. Here's my faves:

Favorite "normal" sandwich:

Pastrami & american on honey wheat bread. I'm simplistic. I use mustard and cheese, maybe a little lettuce. You can't beat it. Try it hot or cold. American, cheddar, & provelone are all good cheeses.

More adventurous faves:

The Monte Cristo: The most unhealthy sandwich you'll ever love. Use plain white bread. Layer with deli ham and swiss. Batter it like you would fried chicken... egg, a little milk, etc. ... deep fry it until it's golden brown. You can sprinkle it with powdered sugar & serve it with jam. I know the sweet stuff sounds odd, but it really compliments the sandwich. You can forego it, though. If all that sounds too messy for you, just go the Bennigan's. They have the best Monte Cristo in the business. You won't be sorry, unless you have a heart attack while eating it.

Kentucky Hot Brown: This one rocks. Grill up some texas toast, then pile on turkey and your favorite cheese. Top with bacon & gravy... yep... gravy... add some onion straws if you've got 'em. One of the best sandwiches you'll ever eat. It's wet & messy, but the grilled toast helps keep the bread from getting soggy. Serve with fries.

I like a good, simple grilled ham & cheese as well.

Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich

1. Start with good beef such as Rib Eye.
2. Shave the beef very thin so it cooks quickly and remains tender.
3. Use a fresh high quality Italian roll - Amoroso’s is a favorite.
4. Decide if you want your steak with or without fried onions.
5. Decide if you want a steak or a cheesesteak. If you elect a cheesesteak you need to decide on American cheese, provolone or the Philly favorite "cheez whiz".
6. Any add-ons? Mushrooms, peppers, pizza sauce, tomatoes? You decide. It’s your sandwich.
7. Start to cook. Sauté the onions, peppers and mushrooms until soft.
8. Fry your steak until brown but not crispy or burned. You can mix in the fried vegetables now or add them at the end.
9. If you elect American cheese or provolone place the cheese on the meat until slightly melted. If you choose Cheez Whiz just smear it on the roll.
10. Place the roll over the meat/cheese/vegetables and scoop it into the sandwich.
11. Garnish your sandwich with pizza sauce, hot or sweet peppers or pickles as you choose.
12. Enjoy your Philly Cheese Steak

Dont freak out but Elvis was right. Fried peanut butter and banana sandwich's are soo good. Not an everyday sandy, but its a great pick me up! The ultimate comfort sandy is as follows:

1 tablespoon un salted butter
2 slices of good white bread (I like brioche)
1/2 ripe banana smashed into chunks
2 tablespoons peanut butter (I prefer creamy)
1 tsp good honey
Melt butter in med skillet. Mix pb and honey spread on one side. Spread smashed bananas on the remaining slice. Fry in butter on both sides til golden brown. Good stuff!

"wow wow wee wow"

-great sourdough bread
-frsh mozzarella cheese
-ripe tomatoes
-fresh basil
-pepporoni
-salami
-munster

roast the tomatoes on a gril putting the cheese over the top one you flip. When it is melted pull off and add bits of basil to it. layer with appropriate condiments... I use none. salami, munster, pepporoni, then roasted tomatoe and mozzarella. You might want to add a bit of peppercorn and side with a fresh salad.

This may sound silly... I made my daughter a grilled PB & J. She thought it was a waffle and insisted on syrup. I thought she was gross, but it was pretty good. It was like a desert sandwhich!

My favorite sangwich is on a bagette. Hungarian salami, cheese, mustard, mayo and pickles! (toasted of course!)
Portabello mushroom, swiss and grilled peppers on a panini is second best.
