Merck makes Fosamax and here is the contact info for their patient assistance plan for needy people.

If you have too much income to qualify for the patient assistance plan, consider ordering the Indian generic version from this mail order pharmacy.

If you cannot afford it and cannot get it at a reduced rate (or free) the next best thing is to buy calcium with vitamin D and take that in the recommended dose. The extra calcium intake will slow the loss of bone matter. Do not take foreign drugs as they are not regulated and you do not know what is in it.

Alendronate (Foxamax) is the only drug which has been shown to reduce mortality in women with osteoporosis. It is expensive, but the company does offer the pills free of charge for those who qualify. Go to the Merck website. You may apply for this program directly online.
