Herpes Simplex 1 are cold sores on or around the mouth. Simplex 2 are sore in the genital region. Yes, if she performs oral sex on you while she has a cold sore, then you can contract Herpes in the genital region. The medications and creams that she uses will not cause her to not break out. It will just lessen the pain and the length that she has the coldsore. You are fine. Just do not let her perform oral sex on you if she has a cold sore and you have to trust her because when a cold sore is first coming on you will not be able to see but she will be able to feel it. It is very rare to for Simplex 1 to transfer over as Simplex 2. But you do not want to take chances when she has a big old sore on her mouth.
I was married for 10 years and never game my husband herpes on his genitals and I performed oral sex on him. Same way with my current boyfriend of 3 years. Some of these people need to get a clue. Simplex 1 is not the STD type! I don't know the exact statistics, but a majority of people carry the coldsore type even if they never break out. Sometimes you just get them from stress as I did every single yeard a day or two before school photos.

Your girlfriend can have any strain of herpes (simplex 1 or 2) on her mouth and it can then be passed onto you orally. She does not even have to have a cold sore to pass it on, it could be in the early stages of a break out and you can get it. The herpes strains do not decipher between your mouth and on your genitals, you can have Simplex A (cold sores) on your penis and anus, and Simplex B (herpes virus) on your mouth, in some cases you can get it in your eyes (it's a virus that needs a nice moist area to grow and fester). Pills and creams do not stop break outs they just help control them. The only thing you can do is be careful.
Good Luck

Hi yes even with medication and no out break you can still catch herpes from her , remember she is on medication to suppress the amount of out breaks so no matter what, you will always be at risk , there is no cure for herpes ,once you catch it you will have it for the rest of your life ,so you need to think is it really worth it ? i hope that everything works out well for you,
good luck

Your not going to like what I say. Sex is not just intercourse. It's oral contact as well. Intimate relationship is just for marriage. That's almost mocked at now, but this is why young people have questions such as this. Protect yourself and her. Don't do it.
