I tried the gum, it just made me want to smoke !
You will stop when you don't want to smoke.
I quit after 25 years, a mixture of support, hypnotising myself (I just associated the most disgusting thing I could think of with smoking - it needs to be something that *really* makes you want to throw up) and actually not wanting to smoke.
One day I smoked, the next I didn't - I have tried smoking a couple of times since and can't do it.

You must really have to want too. Once you reach that point it will be so much easier. I smoked for 12 year and one day I said you know what I don't want to smoke no more. Put it down and never did smoke again. It has to be what you want and it has to come from within, when you want to you will.

There are probably two extremely important aspects of a successful quit: 1) the committed desire to quit; and 2) support. If you truly desire to not smoke, then don't. And, when it gets rough, seek support. A very good website is: www.quitnet.com. There is a tremendous amount of on-line support there. Good luck!

Some of the ways to quit smoking are to get the nicoret gum or patch. I don't know of anyone who has quit cold turkey without any help. It also takes alot of will power. Good luck. Your body will thank you.

set your quit date and become committed to it with a positive attitude. cut your habit in half each day leading up to that date...the night before your big quit day, get rid of all smoking related stuff in your home, outside your home, and in your car. clean up, vacume, wash stuff down, because this will be a clean start! then go cold turkey. have some lemons, and ice water ready, and find a hard candy to suck on or the first four days, lemon drops worked well for me. take walks, or get up and do something every time your cravings get bad, and BREATH.....deep breaths...your lungs will be happy! good luck :)

There are smoking quit patches available in USA. Buy those and apply one daily. You will quit smoking pretty soon. Try your will power as well.

Look at all the anti-smoking brochures and look at all the picture of the health problem smoking causes you...
You could also do this laser thing that involves your ears. I'm not sure how it works but my teacher who smoked for more than half of her life did that and it worked for her.

I quit once and then went back a 2 years later, but when I did I planned on not leaving my house for like a week, I substituted skittles for the cravings. I also slept alot. just don't leave your house. and it should get easier to deal with after a week. but it takes like months until you don't want em. and then you still want em but the craving is gone.
