Lacto is a term used for milk or dairy, so a lacto-vegetarian will still eat things that contain dairy products.
Ovo is the term for eggs, so a person who is ovo-vegetarian will still eat things that have eggs in it.
A lacto-ovo vegetarian eats things that have both eggs and dairy.

Most vegetarians will eat eggs (eggs in the store are infertile, so would never become a life, and the chicken does not die to make them), just like most vegetarians will consume dairy. However, there are some who do NOT eat eggs or dairy. There are also Vegans, who will not eat anything that comes from an animal, regardless of whether or not the animal was harmed.
Just depends on what type of vegetarian you are.

Dear:
Your question has some meanings, ofcause. This is a common question for our people, because there is point that "Vegetarian Egg"
Firstly, see a pure vegetarian person does not eat any kind of egg
Secondly for your question:
Eggs are normally two types which so many people do not know.
1. Egg a female "chicken/hen" gives without a male support
2. Egg a female stay with male "chicken" and produce eggs which has life and can produce "baby chicken"
The first one without male contact and the second one with freequent male contact which can make next generation.
Some religion believe the first egg is OK for them to consume as it is "vegetarian" but I do not know what they mean here?
And those people do not eat the second type of eggs....
Now you tell me egg is vegetarian or not?
I eat egg and I like it very much, now I am of fat and avoided meat, egg etc. eat FISH which has less fat good proteins and good for our health.
Myself even avoid tea/coffee, etc. and consume more yogurt/curd, etc. and more fresh vegetables daily.
According to my believes, what you eat is not the problem it should be good for your health which is important....
Best of Luck

Yes, eggs are vegetarian. They are not vegan. It's very simple and this is not a controversial issue because the eggs that you buy and eat are not fertilized. They are simply byproducts of the chicken. Of course, many people are beginning to realize that the majority of egg-laying hens are treated worse than any food animal, so if you're attempting to live a cruelty-free life, I'd avoid eggs first. Please consider checking out the link I've given you!

assuming that egg came from chicken, if adam and eve or whoever you want had eaten the first two eggs, then they would have wiped out the entire chicken population that we have now. in an avg a chicken gives birth to 50 chicks in its life time. assuming that you eat 1 egg a day and every alternate egg is a female then for 50 years you would have killed 50years X 50 chicks X 365 days. so hell no. egg is not vegetarian. but anyway i eat eggs and they are very very tasty.........

I have always be called a vegetarian . I eat eggs and milk products. Vegans is the name generally used for those who eat no animal products. It is a little confusing. Eggs are surely not plant material, so I'm not really a vegetarian. I just do not eat flesh.

Vegetarians can eat eggs. Vegans ("strict vegetarians") cannot. Most vegetarians are ovo-lacto vegetarians, meaning that they eat eggs, cheese, milk, ice cream, etc.

Egg is not vegetarian.
No argument
If you wish you can take any food you want
then argument continue... milk is a vegetarian or not...
if you think..it is veg.. instead you take neutrious other vegetables
sometimes egg creates some problems to kids and ladies.
