Ok, i read way too much. i just got my hiv results back. Even though i was never exposed to hiv, anyway...they came back negative. now i read that there is type 2 hiv. most commonly in africa. ughhh should i get tested for it? they say its not that common in the US. but it only takes one person. ughh what should i do?

Well, if you have the money, time and don't mind the test...and it would put your mind at east go ahead. If you have had unprotected sex with someone you don't know well...you're dumb...but it might help to get tested...

Your blood test will detect either HIV type-1 or type-2 indifferently. So you don't need to worry for a second blood test now.
But a regular HIV test is recommended every 6 months if you have unprotected sex or share needles.

Molly, if it sets your mind at ease, get tested. By all means. Truth is, you cannot be too careful these days.
