All that I know is that it contains white wine and cream. And it is a traditional Jewish sauce. I watched my fiance prepare it once, but I can't remember the name so I can't look up the recipe.

Bechamel, it is not Jewish and it includes milk in the recipe; but it is one of the main sauces of French cuisine and now used by all cultures.

I don't know about a Jewish one but the one we use in the US is called a Bechemel and actual all over ther world there are 4 mother sauces and that is one of them
