It's always funny reading peoples personal opinions an how easily something is spread hahah
There is a 1-3% chance of getting it. For most people the virus sheds about 10% of the year, that other 90% of the time it is safe to have unprotected sex...but when is that 10%??, nobody knows. So just always use a condom to be safe.
So, yes, you can get it anytime. The chances are pretty low though, but don't get me wrong, it does happen. Some couples have been together for 30yrs and are fine, some couples pass it in a few weeks. It depends on the person who has it and the partners immune system. If the person gets lots of real out break they have a higher chance of shedding than someone who get an out break every few years.

The virus is shed all the time, not just during outbreaks, though you are a lot more likely to get infected during an outbreak. In other words, there is no completely "safe" time to have intercourse with someone who has herpes. And unfortunately, though condoms help a little, it doesn't prevent herpes transmission, because the skin surrounding the penis is still exposed and can transmit or contract the virus from the vaginal area.

YES.. I cant say this loud enough you can catch it if the person your having regular or oral sex is having an outbreak or not. I had a friend who caught the virus and all he got was head from the chic who had no outbreak during the time.
Herpes doesn't go away just because you cant see it..

You can only catch it during an outbreak, HOWEVER, sometimes outbreaks do not show any symptoms, the person with the disease although having an outbreak will not be aware of it but is still contagious during this 'hidden' outbreak. So there is a risk of infection even if there are no physical symptoms or signs of an outbreak.

70% of people who catch herpes from someone the person was symptom free. Also , here is a startling fact. If you took a random 4 or 5 people who say they are herpes free (the sexually transmitted kind) one of those people would test positive for herpes. They might never has an outbreat in their entire life and continue to infect other people.

I believe Stephen. additionally, it varies no count number while you're a guy or a girl. In the two case, the prospect of spreading herpes to a companion is extremely, very small in case you abstain from touch with the affected section in the time of outbreaks. for a girl with HSV-2 genital herpes, the prospect of spreading the virus to a guy in the event that they abstain from having intercourse in the time of outbreaks is approximately 3% in a year. that's without using condoms or suppressive drugs which might scale returned this threat even added. For a guy with HSV-2 genital herpes, the prospect of passing the virus onto a girl companion in the event that they abstain from intercourse in the time of outbreaks is close to eight% in a year. this continues to be basically an exceedingly small threat that could desire to be decreased by a added 40% or greater with using condoms, a suppressive scientific care or antiviral herbs. the prospect is even decrease for those people who've HSV form 2 contained in the mouth section, or HSV form a million contained in the genital section.

Obviously, the TV commercial says you can, but I'm not so sure. No doctor is going to say you can't, they are not going to be liable for that. All I know is that my bf of two years has not caught it from me yet and he gets tested to make sure at first every six months now yearly. We are very careful, we don't have contact if there is any sort of outbreak or if I feel anything strange. Also be sure to wait until sore is COMPLETELY gone if you are planning on unprotected contact. I wait a week after sore is gone before we have contact. This is very serious and I know I don't want my man getting this!
