My daughter's boy friend found out he has an enlarged heart is this something he should worry about?

And as this may be transmitted to his children, there is a need for proper evaluation - for your daughter's boyfriend, and his future (possibly your grandchildren) children.

it depends. enlargement is sometimes normal for athletes, so it may mean nothing at all. it can be an early sign of heart failure though, depends on how enlarged it is as to whether or not it is serious, he'd have to talk to the cardiologist to get an accurate answer. often times when its discovered early complications down the road can be delayed or avoided with treatment

It is a health issue and like anything, it is better if he is aware of it before any surgeries (notify the current doctor) or playing any sports. He is lucky to know as many people do not learn until it is too late.
Now that he does know, he can manage his life accordingly.
