Does anyone else out there have a cough that won't go away? And a lot of mucous in their chest? And plugged ears and nasal congestion for over 3 weeks? My cough kicks in around noon- and then I can sleep fine at night without medicine- I usually take Benedryl and that is it- but in the daytime I take a decongestant. My doc put me on antibiotics and I am on my last day of them- still no results from that so it must not be bacterial. Anyone else have this? It is really driving me insane. I am beginning to think I have some rare disease....

You sound exactly like me a year ago. I am not a doctor mind you, but I will tell you what happened to me and you can go from there. If you have those symptoms and feel fine otherwise you could have severe allergies. I live at the beach and there is a lot of mold in my condo and other allergens around me. . Over time the allergies build up and the symptoms never go away without treatment. I went on the nasacort (nose steroid spray) and have been alot better ever since!.Good Luck and see an allergist, I bet that will be it!!

Follow up with your doctor! There are cases of resistant strains now, meaning they dont respond even to the best antibiotic. If it dont improve, follow up & in case, your doctor might be giving you another antibiotic.
Is there any members of your family or any of your friends who are also coughing. You might be taking medicines but if you are also exposed, then you are receiving another infection. Are you sleeping 8 hours a day ?

have you had this for a long time, and does it start and stop at different times of the year? if so you could just have seasonal allergies and you should use something like claritin or zyrtec.

but if your doctor really has no idea whats wrong maybe you should consult a different one b/c not many people on yahoo answers have medical expertise.
