You need to get your doctor to refer you to a diabetes nurse educator or endocrinologist (a doctor that specializes in endocrin diseases, which includes diabetes). He/she can explain your disease to you, and talk about the lifestyle changes you will need to make in order to prevent the complications of uncontrolled diabetes, like heart disease, gangrene and kidney failure.
I have also included links to the American Diabetes Association, they will also have lots of information. When it comes to diabetes, you cannot be too educated.
Go out and buy a small notebook so you can jot down important information, and monitor your blood sugar levels in this diary.
You will need a high -protein, low carbohydrate diet. That means, cut out all sweets, sodas and candies. Limit starches (like potato chips, fries, etc), juices and fruits.
I am sorry that they just dumped this on you and didn't take the time to explain. They are obligated to get you educated, so insist on a referral to a diabetes center.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

It sounds like your doctor didn't spend enough time educating you on what to do and not to do but try to stay calm or you'll just have 2 problems. The medications he gave you willl help control your blood sugar and it will go down. Take your blood sugar when you wake up in the morning. If it's around 120 at that time you're doing pretty good. Everybody's is high right after they've eaten. Get plenty of exercise, don't have candy, don't drink soda and juice with sugar and stay away from carbohydrate-loaded foods as much as you can. If you're hungry, go for stuff with protein. Your sugar can get dangerously LOW if you haven't eaten in a while, so keep a candy bar or glucose tablets with you at all times. With proper diet and exercise, you'll be able to keep your blood sugar levels reasonable, and avoid any damage to yourself. You'll be fine.

Start taking some serious care of yourself. Start by taking the meds as your doctor has told you to. Ask to be referred to a dietician and a diabetes nurse specialist. Eat less carbohydrate (starchy foods such as potatoes, pasta and rice), cut out fatty foods and sugary foods. If you are overweight you should seriously look at getting some off. Start walking every day, build up the distance you walk. This will all help get your glucose down until you see a specialist who can explain it to you. Once your glucose starts coming down you will start to feel better, less ill and tired.

are you type one or type two?
i am a type one diabetic and i can help you.
If your doctor gave you insulin, then take an extra unit.
If not, then you need to cut your carbohydrate and sugar intake down.
Another thing that brings my blood sugar straight down is a run (one mile)
but be care full not to do too much exercises when your blood sugar is in the 400 range. This can put your body under too much stress.
if that doesn't work, go see your doctor.
Thanks for asking <3

Your blood sugar is very high. What kind of diabetic are you, I or 2? You should call your DR and tell them what is going on, or go to the emergency room to get you sugar under control. If you have specific ?'s, email me at my yahoo address, I'm a Type 1 diabetic and can help you out.

Oh gosh, your doctor should have told you more. You should also see a dietician to explain what your diet should consist of. For now, do some research online. Go to www.diabetes.org. That will give you some info. This is a complex disease that you need to really do that research on. Don't rely on just a few opinions, PLEASE...... Don't let that doctor just blow you off like that either.
