Generally speaking, yes, sushi is good. But it also depends on what kind of sushi you eat. It's like salad, they are generally healthy but you can eat one and have 1200 calories because of the dressing and contents.
If you eat california rolls, you might as well eat chips or a soda. Both the rice and the fake crab meat are high in sugar.
Regular sushi is excellent and good for you and worth the sugar in the rice. Sashimi is excellent. So is chirashi. BTW - If there is a strong smell of fish, then you are eating at the wrong place. Fresh fish has no fishy smell.
Be adventurous and enjoy sushi!

sushi is not supposed to be filling. Traditionally sushi is consumed as a snack not a meal, therefore most people are left still feeling hunger pangs. But in general sushi is good and good for you. If it smells fishy, take it back, if the rice is like rubber take it back. I would also suggest you start w/ the California roll. it will at least acclimate you to the texture and taste.

Any food is good or not good depending on the person eating it. No food will be appreciated by everybody. However, there are certain indicators. For instance, if you don't like rice, you probably won't like sushi.
Also, sushi is way to generalized a term for a direct yes or no answer. A comparison would be: are sandwiches good or bad? The answer might be something like: I like chicken salad but not peanut butter sandwiches.
If you don't want to eat seaweed, as some of the earlier people have said, try inari-zushi, which is made with tofu, instead of seaweed. If you don't like fish, try one like kappa sushi, which is made with cucumbers, or tamago sushi, which is made with egg.

Sushi is good depending on what type of person you are. Sushi is made from raw fish which may or may not contain harmful substances or foreign organisms. In general it is both safe and unsafe for one thing pregnant women should not eat half-cook or raw fishes. It is actually in the process of making sushi which makes it safe, traditionally japanese have evolved taste buds with better compensation than those not accustumed to other people's tastebuds from other countries. It is still in the immunity, preparation and the overall environment and person which makes eating sushi safe.

depends on your tastes, and depends on how adventurous you are when it comes to trying different foods. I personally love all sushi and sashimi and am a big fan of Japanese cuisine. My boyfriend, on the other hand, will not eat anything that crawls or lives in the ocean...including shrimp! Anyway my favourite sushi is bbq eel (unagi) and avocado sushi, as well, i like sushi pizza, and i love raw fish (sashimi) salmon and escolar are my favourites.

I think it is excellent. You can go with veggie or fresh fish combos, so if you are nervous, I reccomend starting with something like a California roll... it has no raw fish. This will give you an idea of the flavors in sushi and how to eat it... so you can work up to sashimi (raw fish) gradually.

Sushi is stunningly nice. One of the nicest foods there is.
If you've not tried it before, I'd suggest staying away from food court sushi & go to a nice Japanese restaurant. The difference is quite marked.
Hope you enjoy!

Personally I cannot stand the strong smell of raw fish in sushi and the taste is even worse. I want my seafood and fish products cooked!

Right up there with oysters', just remember to use a wet-nap before you go fall asleep with that smile on your face. The sheets have a tendency of adhering to the lips!
