I've got a big bottle of fish souse. I know I can use it in stir fry and Thai dishes, but what else can I use it for? Does anyone know a good easy recipe with fish souse?

I'm vietnamese and we use it for pretty much everything. This is one recipe I learned to make.

1/2 cup of water
1/4 cup of fish sause
4 Tbsp. Sugar
1 Tbsp. Garlic powder
1 Tbsp. Red Pepper Flakes
20 1/2 in. rib pieces
1/3 cup of vegetable oil

Cook the ribs until slightly brown in oil.
In a cup mix the water and fish sauce.
In a seperate bowl mix the sugar, flakes, and powder.
After the meat is thoroughly browned, add water mixture.
Pour in the sugar mixture.
Cover with a lid and let sit for about 15 min.
It should look almost burnt.
Enjoy.

make a pasta sauce just as you would for bolognese...but leave out the mince meat. Add tinned sardines and a few splashes of your fish sauce, chilli if you fancy and you'll end up with a pretty good putanesca.

you can use it in seafood fried rice, in seafood soups. Bottomline, if you're using seafood in any of your cooking, you can use fish sauce.

Happy trying!:)
