We cook it because we've been trained to.

Cooking is not necessarily so great and doesn't, as some have said, kill all the bacteria. Before he died, Louis Pasteur said we'd taken pasturization too far. Some bacteria is good for us. And cooking does NOT kill E-COLI.

Many of the people who die of food poisoning each year got it from cooked beef.

Not everyone DOES cook their food. Whole raw food has more vitamins and nutrients in it. Check out the raw food movement at some of the links provided.

I had horrible digstive issues for a long time. I ate as much whole unprocessed raw food as I could for a year. My digestive tract righted itself and now I can eat everything!

To the woman who called the question stupid, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Because much of what we eat contains bacteria and protists and other nasty little bugs that can make us sick if we do not...

This most recent Spinach scare here in the states is a prime example of that.. all the people who were getting sick had eaten it raw while the rest of us, who cook our spinach (because we don't like it raw) were OK.

There are definite benefits to eating raw foods no doubt, but one needs to make sure it is properly washed etc... and some foods should NOT be eaten raw, no matter how much better they taste or look.

It is just the way it is, our bodies have not evolved defenses in the same way that many other animals have, probably since we have been cooking food for a million or more years..

We cook food because we need food to survive. But even then, we wouldn't positively need to cook. We can eat natural things in this world, but we mix things together to make tasty meals!

Bacteria is not the reason we cook food. It's to makes foods more palatable and with certain foods edible. Many beans, grains and some vegetables are inedible unless cooked properly (Cassava being one of these).

We cook food because we have to kill some bacteria in it and also to make the food tastier.

NEVER ASK ANY QUESTION LIKE THIS AGAIN AND IF YOU DO PLEASE ADD ADDITIONAL DETAILS EXPLAINING WHY The reason we dont eat all food raw is because if you eat something that has some sort of bacteria like chicken has salminella you could get a disease from it and then it resulting in many uncomfortable situations (and you get a lifelong pass to your bathroom) But if you mean why do we make food because our body needs energy to live which comes from food and drink (also it tastes really good)

The heat drives out the evil pixie demons that would otherwise invade your body, drive you completely insane and turn you into a drooling, knuckle dragging idiot.

Please continue to cook your food--we already have one Michael Moore.

Because it tastes better, and you can eat something you can not eat without cooking.
But I heard that cave men started cooking, after they tried animals died in forest fire, since it tasted better than raw meat.
