Depending on how the turkey was wrapped when it was originally frozen. If air was allowed to get to the product you probably have some severe freezer burn. While eating product that has had some freezer burn is not harmful for consumtion - it doesn't look too appetizing. The best bet would be to allow the turkey to thaw completely in the refrigerator or larger picnic cooler. Check for burn. You could always cut the turkey up to remove the burn and try or if as I like to say "When in doubt - throw it out!"

Depending on the star rating of your freezer, manufacturers generally reccomend that you do not freeze food for more than 6 months.

Personaly, I would NEVER eat anything, especially meat, fish or poultry that has been stored for that long. There may be a health risk, but certainly the turkey will likely be tasteless at best!

My advice - throw in the bin and buy another!

Has it been cooked and refrozen, if so it probably is no good. It will be freezer burned. If it is still in the original wrapper, open it up and look at it, if it appears to be ok, it probably is.
