In fairness, vegetarians are as a rule more intelligent. That isn't, however, much to do with the actual diet per se; the fact is that unintelligent people very rarely become veggies.
People who smoke, binge drink and have a dead end job really aren't ever going to give two figs about vegetarianism, so they end up in the meat eating percentage, and affect these sorts of results.
On the other hand, fish is irrefutably an excellent brain food, especially for children, and there is some evidence that meat eating in childhood can stimulate brain growth.

i don't really think there is much of a connection between diet and intelligence. i know some pretty intelligent vegetarians and intelligent meat eaters. then again, pythagoras, ben franklin, and Leonardo da Vinci were all vegetarians, so you never know.

Children who grow up getting their nutrition from plant foods have tremendous health advantage. They are less likely to develop weight problems, diabetes, high blood pressure and some forms of cancer. There is evidence that they have a higher average IQ with Vegan children averaging 117 compared to 99 in omnivorous children. They have better eating patterns and grow at a comparable rate to their omnivorous counterparts.

I dont think being vegetarian, vegan, or eating meat has anything to do with intelligence. If your smart your smart, if your ignorant and dumb you are just that. I truly dont think diet, meaning eating meat and not eating meat plays a part in being smart, or dumb. Although I'am happier being a vegetarian. :)

Vegetarians and vegans are!!! And if you are in any doubt ask Nick L (a great regular on here) he has the stats from BBC's Test the Nation. Butchers came well down the list.

It`s just a matter of choice based on personal belief, it doesn`t relate to intelligence in anyway.
*from someone who doesn`t eat meat*

Vegetarians because, not only are we smart for choosing a healthier diet, but also because we have a sense of compassion for other living creatures.

Its a matter of what is required to survive in nature. A preditor needs to outsmart its prey. Lets face it, its a lot harder to sneak up on another animal that to sneak up on a blade of grass so a meat eater has to be more intelligent in order to eat.
