It depends on a lot of factors, the severity of it, your age and health before hand, whether you rest and recuperate etc.

I got it when I went skiing in New Zealand, I was 25 yrs old, fit and healthy beforehand and it took me a good month to completely get better. Was really sick for the first 2 weeks and the last 2, still not at peak health.

It depends on whether or not the pneumonia is in the upper of lower lobes of the lungs. It also depends on how well the person is being treated. By this I mean are they on a good, strong, combination antibiotic? Are they getting enough fluids and rest? Are they treating with not only an antibiotic but with a decongestant like Robitussin, Mucines, breathing treatments of any kind, etc. Rubbing vicks on the chest will also help in clearing the lungs. However, if vicks is put on the persons chest, then make sure that they do not go outside with it on. Make sure to get the vicks off of the chest before going outdoors.
Does this person smoke or are they around anyone that does?
Is this person overweight? Are they up for a little while at least and moving around? Or are they just lying in the bed? Getting up and moving around for short periods of time is helpful also. It helps the lungs to get things moving and clear out the mucus.
