A bone scan revealed that for some reason it has become lose & I need it done again. My doc can not explain it & he seems apathetic toward my condition. He operated on my other hip 7 yrs ago. He inserted a "bone plug" from a cadaver into the top of the ball of my thigh bone to generate blood flow & re-generate the bone growth. It was good for a few yrs. but it needs to be replaced as well. I had planned to have it replaced this spring , but now I have to have the other replaced again.
What would cause it to come lose? I gave up golf before the replacement, I do not run, skate, ride a bike etc. I am very upset about this because my doc seems to be in a hurry to do it again. He got very upset when I told him I was seeking a 2nd opinion & a 3rd to try to determine why this happened.
Anyone w/ any advise will be greatly appreciated. thank you.

I would have a second and third opinion also. I had a total hip 5 years ago (I'm not much older than you) and before I had it, I had titanium screws that came loose. Who knows why? But I do know that there are newer prothesises that don't require that long lateral cut now; almost like mini-replacements. So I would see a doc that is up to date on new and better hardware. It also sounds like you might have had some necrosis in the bone with the so called "plug". Discuss that with your new orthopedic. Hey, if the doc gets upset, that's his problem. These things are suppose to last 25-35 years! I don't think you did anything to cause the problem. Just get all of the information you can beforehand. That's what I would do. Godloveya.

The price of Hip replacement surgery is very low in India as compared to USA, UK and Canada. My cousin also got her hip replacement surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She is totally pain free now. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as all joint surgery is not covered by insurance in USA or by NHS in the UK. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
