Absolutely not! Eating sugar does not induce/cause diabetes. I'm surprised at the number of 'so-called' professionals who go on about how sugar and eating sweets can cause diabetes. It's only because the person becomes obese, and their pancreas can't produce enough insulin, or the insulin that they do produce isn't able to be used effectively, that they become diabetic.

Having said that, diabetes is caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Eating a diet high in fat and sugar can cause you to become overweight. Being overweight increases your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, so if you have a history of diabetes in your family, a healthy diet and regular exercise are recommended to control your weight.

As for your second question about sugar substitutes, too much of them can have a laxative effect on people, so be careful how much of those you take. (You are aware that sugar substitutes are actually sweeter than sugar, aren't you? This means that you wouldn't need anywhere near as much to get the same effect.)

Best of luck.

Diabetes is a genetic disorder. If you are prone genetically towards it then you are likely to get it. Your lifestyle choices however are still a factor. IIf you are prone to it and you live of sugar then it wil happen sooner rather than later.

There are two types of diabeted 1 & 2, if you have 1 then it is usually from an early age. Type 2 is often refered to as late onset diabetes which often goes unnoticed if you live a healthy lifestyle.

thats an old wives tale. Diabetes occurs when the pancreas stops producing insulin which controls blood sugar levels.
