If you have time it is always nice to cook the food yourself. Some nice ideas are:
Steamed dumplings - Chicken and Pork
Mini pizza
Pies and Sausage rolls
Spaghetti scrolls - Just use the sauce wrapped in puff pastry
Frankfort's
Sandwiches
Etc - All this is relatively easy and can be prepared the night before and just placed in the oven on the day.

Here is something so quick and simple, you will want to fix it anytime. Take a lb. of ground beef, add one pkg. of onion soup mix to it. Then take a roll of crescent rolls and cut each in half long ways, Press each one out to make them bigger. Take a one inch ball of ground beef/onion soup and roll it up in it. Put on baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for approx. 15 minutes and serve hot with your favorite toppings if desired. These are so quick and easy and everyone loves them. They will think you worked all day!! Good Luck!
P.S. You don't add any other seasoning to the mixture because the onion soup mix has all the seasonings in it already.

if it's a budget issue i would recommend making a couple boxes of ziti, mix with a big jar of tomato sauce, throw in a catering tray, and cover with fresh grated parmesan cheese. this tastes good, kids will like it, and you won't break the bank.
