Contrary to popular misconception, rabbis or other religious officials do not "bless" food to make it kosher. There are blessings that observant Jews recite over food before eating it, but these blessings have nothing to do with making the food kosher.

The rules describing what makes food kosher can be seen on the site below.

If the chocolate was NOT kosher, nor would the chocolate flavoured water, cake or whatever you do with it be kosher. On the other hand if you make prawn cocktail or even bacon flavoured food out of a kosher potato or other kosher ingredient it remains kosher, whatever it looks like or whatever you call it.

As in protestant churches; there are some Jewish denominations who do not keep kosher. For those who do keep Kosher if the box has not god Pareve on the side or the front then it is not Kosher. I seriously doubt there was a rabbi watching as they made those shrimp crisps in Thailand.

You can have fake or artificial items so long as that item is "kosher" (which means inspected and approved by the Pope)

I have a jewish friend who loves fake bacon and veggie sausages.
